VALLE ANNOUNCES RUN FOR SUPERVISOR

BIO

Corcoran resident Richard Valle Saturday officially tossed his hat in the ring for the upcoming Kings County supervisor election to represent District 2. Valle kicked off his campaign at home, with a gathering that included friends and family.
Assemblywoman Nicole Parra was part of the crowd, and endorsed Valle, who runs her Hanford satellite office.
"I’m proud of Richard and I know he is ready and qualified to take this next step," said Parra, who promised her support during the campaign. "I call Richard the "first responder" of Kings County. When something happens here, he is always right on it. If he needs help raising money, I pledge that support. If he needs people to walk precincts, we’ll do that too."
Parra said she would be pleased to help make sure Valle has all the resources he needs for the campaign..
Born and raised in Corcoran, Valle attended local schools and graduated from Corcoran High School in 1988. In May of 1990, he joined the United States Marin Corps, where he remained until he received an honorable discharge in 1996.
For the past five years, he has worked with Parra’s Hanford office, responding to constituents’ concerns, working with community leaders and organizations in the 30 th District on behalf of the assemblywoman. As district director, Valle has served the assemblywoman’s interests throughout her district, which includes all of Kings County an portions of Fresno, Tulare and Kern counties.
His passion for public service, he said, led him to pursue a seat on the board of supervisors.
"My focus will be on getting ‘back to the basics’ and working on issues that I believe are important to the residents of Kings County. At the end of the day, I think people want to know their families are safe under their own roofs, good paying jobs are available so that the people of our county can provide for their families and that opportunities exist so their children can get a good education," Valle said.
Corcoran City Councilman Larry Hanshew was at Saturday’s event and introduced the candidate with his support.
"Whatever Richard has ever said to me he has followed through," stated Hanshew. "I have watched him grow up and he has proven to be a man of his word."
Valle, who graduated with an associate of science degree in human resource administration from San Joaquin Valley College in Visalia, has also launched a website,
www.valleforsupervisor.com, where he plans to update his stands on various issues during his campaign.
The actual filing date for candidates does not open until Feb. 11. Local resident Terry Kwast has also expressed interest in seeking the seat, and Sid Craighead, an Avenal city councilman, announced in October that he is planning a run at the seat. District 2 takes in Corcoran, Avenal and Kettleman Hills. The filing period closes March 7.
In addition to gaining the endorsement of Parra and Hanshew, Valle said he has also earned the endorsement of City Councilwoman Toni Baltierra, Corcoran District Hospital Vice Chairman Frank Stiger, local farmer Mark Hansen and Marleen and Phillip Smart of Corcoran, local business owners, among others.
The election will take place Tuesday, June 3. If no candidate takes more than 50 percent of the vote, the top two candidates will face each other in the November general election.

PANCAKES AND ISSUES WITH RICHARD

A youth football camp was held this past Saturday, April 5 th at the Corcoran High Football Stadium. The camp which focused on youth 7 to 13 years old, was held by Dameane Douglas, a former NFL Receiver. Douglas, who spent most of his NFL career playing for the Philadelphia Eagles, put on a 2 ½ hour clinic that focused on speed, footwork drills, and a message to the youth to stay positive and keep on the right track.
According to Douglas, his passion for football and commitment to helping youth is what inspired him to develop his own football clinic program. "I know the local coaches work hard and are dedicated to the kids, I can see it their performance Saturday. My mission is to let the kids know how much work & dedication it takes to make it to the NFL. I want them to know that anything is possible if you work hard, but one false move can shatter your whole dreams."
The Douglas camp was sponsored by Richard Valle for Supervisor and Corcoran Pee Wee Football. Roughly 60 youth from Corcoran attended the event and each participant received an autographed Dameane Douglas football card. Valle provided the kids with a bbq lunch and a DJ for the event.
"I am glad Richard Valle brought me to Corcoran to enjoy time with the youth on a sunny Saturday," said Dameane Douglas.  "The Corcoran kids were excited during the camp and I was happy to pass on some of my NFL experience to them." "This camp is something that I wish I had when I was their age" continued Douglas. "I am currently looking for more sponsors which will allow me to bring my football camp to other parts of the Valley."
"We were very pleased with the way the camp turned out. I want to thank Richard Valle & Dameane Douglas for what they did for the youth" said Kenny Dawes, Vice-President of Corcoran Pee Wee Football. "We hope this will be the first of a long running annual event."

FRESNO BEE INTERVIEWS CANDIDATES FOR KINGS COUNTY SUPERVISOR DISTRICT TWO

Supervisor candidate Richard Valle has earned the endorsement of the Kings County firefighter’s union.
Valle was picked by the union after all three District 2 candidates were recently interviewed.
In a letter to Valley, Mike Rodarmel, president of the local union, said the group was impressed by Valle’s knowledge of the issues facing Kings County and his willingness to roll up his sleeves and get to work making "Kings County a better place to live, work and do business."
He said the union was particularly impressed with Valle’s commitment to open government and public safety, as well as his willingness to explore solutions to the retention crisis facing the fire and sheriff’s departments.
Valle said he was grateful for the firefighters’ support.
"Public safety is a priority for me and these folks work hard to protect our property and they look out for the safety of the residents of Kings County," stated Valle. "Firefighters don’t think twice about running into a burning building if they have to, in order to save a life or protect us. They deserve a supervisor that is going to look out for their issues, as well."
Valle said he used the interview with the Kings County Firefighter’s Local 3747 to convey the importance of being a full-time supervisor.
"Now, more than ever, we are at a crossroads in Kings County. As this county grows, so does the need for full-time attention to its problems. Firefighters work full-time. Police officers work full-time. Criminals work full-time. This county deserves a full-time supervisor who will work full-time on our issues," said Valle.
Valle is currently employed as the chief of Assemblywoman Nicole Parra’s Hanford office. Parra has already announced that she will not seek public election to any office in November. This will leave Valle without a post for the assemblywoman after that time, opening the door for him to serve as supervisor in the full-time capacity.
